The realization that I have exactly 5 weeks until my sprint triathlon has hit me like a ton of bricks. Last night I was chatting with a friend who is starting a "stop the muffin top" contest. I am so excited to be a part of it. There are weekly challenges and prizes. Since I am not there I have to do some extra things to weigh in with a trainer and maybe her mom also every week to make it all legit. The fee is $99. 75% of that goes to the end prize and 25% to the weekly prizes...and I am SUPER stoked!! I am planning a workout routine to start serious training in the areas of biking, swimming and running. And as much as I hate to say this, I HAVE to do strength training. I hate it. It bores me, but I know in all the groups I have worked out in, it is SO important to build muscle so that I can burn that butter. The best muscle building routine that I know about is the Body For Life one. That's the one I am going to follow in conjunction with intervals of cardio to keep my heart rate up. So here is the plan:
Monday- (am)upper body strength training/biking
(pm)Zumba- 1 hour (every other week when I dont have guitar)
Tuesday-(am) swimming / and 1 hour of zumba
Wed-(am)lower body and abs strength training (pm) Zumba
Thursday-(am) Swimming 30 min/ interval running 30 min
friday-(am)upper body strength training/biking
sat- (am)Interval running/biking/abs
In addition I am going to be walking three times a week during lunch time. (20 minutes) Just to give me a boost.
That being said from everything I have read and heard, eating is the most important part of the puzzle. SO now its on. No sugar (which I really already do) and no white flour (which is my vice). Other than that I am drinking about a gallon and a half of water a day already so I will continue with that and keep taking my vitamins and energy drink!
I am excited to get to the point where I can do my swim, a 10 mile bike ride and walk/run 3 miles all at one time!!! And the best part is that I have a few friends doing it with me- and my FABULOUS friend Kimi is coming from the tri- cities to do it with me in Aug!!!! YAHOO!! gives me extra energy to do it!!!
